OpenRepairPOS is a free, open-source repair shop POS. Every feature is included at no cost, with unlimited users, and it runs in the shop's own free Cloudflare account. **What is the best free alternative to paid repair shop software?** OpenRepairPOS is built as a free alternative to paid repair shop management systems. It covers repair tickets, POS, inventory, purchase orders, customer tracking links, SMS/email updates, profit reports and technician commissions, with no monthly fee. A typical paid repair POS starts at $99 per store per month for its entry plan (checked 2026-11-02 on that vendor's published pricing page). **Is OpenRepairPOS really free? What's the catch?** It is free. The project has no paid tier, ads or affiliate fees, and each shop hosts its own copy on Cloudflare's free plan, so there are no project servers to pay for. Optional costs a shop pays directly to other companies: text messages (Twilio), email sending (Resend or its own email server) and a custom domain name. **Do I need to install anything or run a server?** No. It runs in the browser. The one-click deploy puts it in the shop's own Cloudflare account, which runs it with HTTPS. Technical users can also self-host it with Docker or Node.js. **Can I run my repair shop from ChatGPT or Claude?** Yes. OpenRepairPOS includes an MCP server. Create a key in Settings → AI & API, paste the link into Claude (custom connector) or ChatGPT (Developer mode app), then ask things like "What's waiting for parts?" or "Check in an iPhone 13 screen for Maria, $50 deposit". **Does it take card payments?** Yes, on the card terminal the shop already uses. The shop keeps its processor and rates and records the payment as card, cash, bank transfer or store credit. Card numbers never pass through OpenRepairPOS, so there is no card data in the POS and no processor lock-in. **Who owns the data?** The shop. Tickets, customers and sales live in the shop's own Cloudflare account (or its own server). Nobody else, including the OpenRepairPOS project, has access. **Does it work for computer repair, tablet repair or other electronics?** Yes. It suits any shop that checks in an item, repairs it and invoices for it: phones, tablets, computers, game consoles, watches, cameras and small electronics. Shops can add their own ticket fields. **How many users or locations?** Unlimited users on a single location. Multiple locations are not available yet. ## How to get it (one-click deploy) 1. Click "Deploy to Cloudflare" on https://openrepairpos.com/install/ or the GitHub page. 2. Sign in to (or create) free Cloudflare and GitHub accounts. Cloudflare copies the code to the shop's GitHub, then builds and runs it. 3. Click Deploy. Cloudflare creates the app and its database (about two minutes). 4. Open the new address (for example openrepairpos.yourname.workers.dev) and create the owner account straight away; the first person to open a new install becomes its owner. Tick "Add sample data" to explore first. 5. Optional: connect the shop's own domain in Cloudflare. Updates: a Cloudflare install is a copy in the shop's GitHub account and does not update automatically yet. ## Full feature list (version 0.5.0) ### Repair ticketing - Device check-in: customer, device type, brand, model, IMEI/serial, passcode, problem, priority, due date - Custom repair types and up to 30 shop-defined fields (for example VIN, mileage, color) - Repair price list: quick pick fills in device, price and warranty and reserves the linked part - Custom ticket statuses in the shop's own order; list view and drag-and-drop board (Kanban); overdue tickets highlighted - Pre-repair and post-repair checklists - Technician assignment; internal notes (staff only) and diagnostic notes (shown to the customer) - Parts and labor lines; parts come out of stock when added and go back when removed - Deposits at check-in or later, applied to the invoice automatically; any excess becomes store credit - Job timer per technician plus manual time entries - Warranty days per ticket - On-screen customer signature on the shop's terms - Printable bench label and drop-off receipt ### Customer updates - Private repair tracking link for every ticket (status, progress, estimate, due date, technician updates), no customer login - Internal notes and passcodes are never shown to customers - Automatic SMS and/or email on chosen statuses (Twilio, Resend or SMTP, or any webhook) ### Point of sale (POS) and invoicing - Product tiles, search and barcode scanning with any USB or Bluetooth scanner - Discounts, sales tax (one shop-wide rate; items can be non-taxable) - Payment methods: cash with change calculation, card (on the shop's own terminal), bank transfer, store credit - Partial payments and unpaid invoices; one-click invoice from a repair ticket - Print or save invoices as PDF - Voids return retail stock, refund store credit and put deposits back on the ticket ### Inventory and purchasing - Parts, retail products and services with SKU, barcode, cost, price, supplier and supplier SKU - Low-stock alerts, stock history with reasons (including returns to supplier/RMA), serial and IMEI tracking - Stock counts and CSV import - Purchase orders with full or partial receiving (updates stock and cost) - Built-in Parts4Cells reorder list: low-stock items, suggested quantities and a link to find each part; one-click purchase order.
